Is your water softner working properly?

Chemtech-Ford can perform a hardness test on your water softner to ensure that it is working properly. Hardness is calculated by the calcium and magnesium content. Sodium and other metals, if desired, can be added for testing.

Drinking, Potable, and Well Water

The determination for safe and potable drinking water is defined differently depending on your water source and county. It is best to consult the division of drinking water for specific requirements and view your county lists.

The following, however, is a list of common tests to help determine potability.

Test	Nitrate (NO3)
Limits:	The maximum acceptable limit is 45 mg/L
Causes:	Methemoglobinemia (Blue Baby Syndrome in infants)
Source:	Human waste, fertilizers, decomposing plant or animal remains
Costs:	$20

Test	Total & Fecal Coliform Bacteria
Limits:	Any presence of coliform reflects impurities
Causes:	Diarrhea, cramps, nausea, and possibly jaundice, and any associated headaches and fatigue.
Source:	Warm blooded mammals
Costs:	$18

Test Your Pool and Spa

Ensure your pool cleaning is working! Chemtech-Ford can analyze your pool or spa water for bacteria content. Chlorine and pH values are other tests that may be of interest.
